#6 Tiger of the Sea (8-5) stalked and scored at 5T Aug. 9 (CA-bred OC-20k/1x). She stalked and missed the show by a head Sept. 4 (OC-50k/1x), and the winner and show finisher were both next-out winners. She hit the board in all three local turf attempts and is a logical win contender if she handles the added ground of this race. Her winning rider Joel Rosario stays put and he is 3-for-9 with Brian Koriner.
#4 Goje (9-2) was part of the trifecta in her first four turf attempts, and she chased and weakened to 10th of 12 at 8T Aug. 23. She puts blinkers back on and she finished third the other two times she wore blinkers. She was a close second and a competitive third in her first two attempts at 8T, and the 1-2 finishes from her July 26 flat mile try were both next-out winners. Juan Hernandez takes the call and he is 1-for-1 with George Papaprodromou.
#9 Marla Hooch (5-2) was briefly a winner after she got her nose down on the line at 6.5T in April, but she was demoted to second. She lost her next three starts, and finally made the maiden win stick at 8T Aug. 30. This is her third start off a layoff and she will try to get involved in the stretch under her new rider Kazushi Kimura (0-for-10 w/Phil D’Amato).
#7 Pavel Is Appealing (5-1) hit the board in three straight turf sprints before finishing far behind the top three in a dirt route on Sept. 3. She removes blinkers for the productive Emisael Jaramillo/Doug O’Neill team.
