#5 Wonder Mist (6-1) is 2-for-4 with a second and a third on dirt. He stretched out, set a pressured pace, and missed by a half-length in the St. Louis Derby Aug. 29. Wesley Ward’s Candy Ride gelding should be forwardly placed under his new rider Irad Ortiz Jr.
#11 Bourbon Flight (7-2) rallied for the place in a flat mile turf race at KD Aug. 30, and runaway winner Blast Furnace clicked right back as the favorite in a local turf route Oct. 14. This 4-time winner is 2-for-3 with a runner-up at this trip, and he won his last three starts on the main track. He reconnects with his winning rider Jose Ortiz, and he is a logical top three player if he works out a trip from the outside post.
#4 Pagode (5-2) is 1-for-9 with six runner-up finishes, and he completed the exacta in his last five starts. He competed at KEE once and was second in the slop that day. He was the beaten favorite in his last pair and is hard to trust on the win end.
#9 Fuzzbuster (8-1) is 1-for-8 with a pair of runner-up finishes and four show finishes. He returns to the main track and reconnects with John Velazquez, and he is stabled at KEE.
#3 Freddie B (5-1) is a miler with early-pressing speed, and his new rider Emmanuel Esquivel wins races with Ken McPeek.
#8 Rugged Love (8-1) is getting faster for Brendan Walsh. He removed blinkers and rallied wide from the outside post to win a starter allowance dirt route at CD Sept. 27. Tyler Gafalione sticks with him and he is 5-for-16 with this barn recently.
