Horse Comments:
#1 Jimmy B (4-1) hit the board in his last three starts and he might be the one to catch from the inside post. He battled through above par splits and missed the place by a neck at 7.5T Jan. 7 and that was his first in more than four months. Glenn Corbett got to know him last time and he is a profitable 3-for-14 with Kevin Eikleberry.
#3 Goodfella (1-1) is 0-for-15 with five runner-up finishes and two show finishes. He stalked the pace and completed the exacta in his last two turf starts and exceeded the winning par for this Jan. 21 (OC-16k/1x). He is back with maiden friends and could easily pick up his first win as the favorite.
#6 Rowan August (7-2) was an even fourth as the beaten favorite in a similar course/distance affair in November and the runner-up was a next-out winner. He was a 31-1 outsider vs. winners Dec. 15 and he ended up an even 5th of 8 (beaten 3 1/4 lengths). He returns to the maiden ranks and projects a stalking trip.
#2 Verdi (5-1) figures to save ground stalking the pace. He completed the trifecta on three occasions and might get a piece of this.
